Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Jigsaw puzzle featuring Emilie Floge, 1902, by Gustav Klimt. From the studio of fin de siecle ViennaÕs most inspired painter emerged women clothed in gold and galaxies. Gustav Klimt pursued by the cityÕs elite for his spectacular portraits of society women, never married; he chose instead to share a large apartment with his mother and two of his sisters. For nearly two decades his lover was Emilie Floge, a fashion designer and the owner, with her sisters, of a shop that catered to wealthy women. The Klimt and Floge families were closely intertwined: GustavÕs younger brother and artistic collaborator, Ernst, was married to EmilieÕs older sister Helene. Of the several portraits he made of his companion, the one presented here is Gustav KlimtÕs most splendid. Her round face and soft curls are enveloped in a flowery halo, while her body, clothed in fabrics where stars are born, nearly vanishes. Thoughtfully conceived and engagingly intricate, Pomegranate's 1,000-piece interlocking jigsaw puzzles combine superb color reproduction, stunning and unusual images, and sturdy construction to delight generations of novice and veteran puzzleworkers.
